Television Shows of the 1950's and Mass Traditions

During the 1955s, the average American was an optimistic reflection in the traditional values of the occasions. Then since the world around them began to alter, so performed the types of tv programming these people were exposed to. The era with the 1950s was an extremely perplexing time because America was trying to adapt to its new role as a competing superpower and still trying to maintain the solid foundation of American society while at the same time trying to reinforce its traditional values. Although how had been the forces that always be going to have the ability to reach the masses in order to get this concept out? That is when the situation humor was born. " One of the initial phases with the 1950s sitcoms was their very own transition through the realm of radio to broadcast television set. ” (Montoya, Kyle 2013). The introduction of the situation comedy or ‘sitcom' towards the television display screen has educated America that in order to survive, one need to adapt just like the sitcom has. As opposed to the " increased freedom, as well as sociable, economic, and political growth opportunities for females that prevailed during the period of post-WWI, post-WWII America built itself around the proven fact that a female's place is at the home raising a family. ” (Moody, Meredith 2013). After the 1950's sitcoms started to reveal this new change in how women were likely to project themselves, it was not long before the American public was overly-inundated with subtle media-delivered messages aimed at indoctrinating ladies into the new role world had decided to cast these people in. There have been also numerous newspaper and magazine content that as well helped to encourage this " ladies returning to the home” theme. The popular television programs of the era that best exemplified this case were displays such as ‘I Love Lucy', ‘Father Is aware of Best', and ‘The Honeymooners', although I never sensed that ‘I Love Lucy' and ‘The Honeymooners'...
