The Life and Loss of life of Charles Goodyear

Charles Goodyear was created in New Haven, Connecticut on December 29, 1800 to Amasa and Cynthia Goodyear. Charless dad was a hardware produce and a merchant. Amasa Goodyear designed mainly farming equipment like hayforks and scythes, which he created. When Charles was an adolescent he wanted to go in to the ministry and be a pastor, but his father convinced him that he was an excellent business man and put him in the hardware retail store of the Rogers brothers in Philadelphia at age seventeen. He worked now there until he was twenty-one years old. In those days he came back to New Haven to become listed on his fathers organization, making farm equipment. For five years he performed for his father, accumulating the family organization. On August 24, 1824, while he was even now working for his father he wedded Clarissa Beecher who as well resided in New Haven, Connecticut. In 1826 Charles Goodyear made a decision to proceed to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. There he opened a equipment retail store where he sold the merchandise that his father produced. Four years after beginning this shop both Amasa and Charles Goodyear had been bankrupt because they might extend credit to customers and the customers could not pay back the amount of money that they owed. Charless health began to decline and both dad and son owed tens of thousands.

For the next thirty years Charles Goodyear was thrown in prison over ten times because he didnt give his debts. In 1834 when he was in NY, on a organization trip, the Roxbury India Rubber Enterprise caught his eye. He decided to go in the store and have a look
